The beer festival held at the sports club on Saturday 25.4.09 was a great success with many representatives from the cricket, hockey, rugby and orienteering sections as well as many guests joining in. However the revelers failed to empty all 10 barrels. The hockey five were winners of the boat-race over the rugby five.
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped the event go off smoothly, and special thanks to Peter Curtis for organising it. Hopefully it can become a regular fixture in the annual diary.
It appears the profit will be in excess of £1,500, so another significant contribution to the new pavilion fund.

There is a suggestion for the hockey and rugby sections to have a cricket match, the rugby and cricket sections to have a hockey match and the cricket and hockey sections to have a rugby match. This would ideally take place in September. One volunteer from each section would be required to coordinate this, so if interested please step forward.

A proposal is being put forward to the sports club committee for a petanque playing area (known as a ‘terrain’). This would require a minimum area of 17m by 6m and could result in a new member section at the club.
If anyone is interested in this, please contact Steve Rowland-Jones on either 01722 501413 or steve.ro-jo@ntlworld.com.
