PLANNING APPLICATION UPDATE
Following a meeting at the sports club with the Highways Agency, the HA have now removed their objection/stop notice to the planning application. A number of issues were discussed and the entrance to the ground has now been altered to allow better visibility. The fence by the entrance has been realigned to make visibility better on exiting the ground. A pedestrian access has been made on the eastern side so pedestrians do not have to walk in the roadway. A travel plan will also need to be written to make members more aware of sharing vehicles and using public transport. Reassurances were given to the HA that traffic volume should not alter dramatically by the provision of a new pavilion.
As a result of the Highways Agency withdrawing their objections, the planning officer is writing up his report recommending approval. However it is unlikely to be an “Officer Delegated Decision”, given the housing element/public interest, and it is anticipated that the application will go before the Planning Committee on 16 July (but to achieve that the planning officer will need to complete his report by end of June).
We will be informed of this eventuality, and if this happens we will need to bring a lot of members to the committee meeting, which would be at the City Hall, to help sway the vote!
